DNA Mutation Simulator
Designed a Python application to simulate DNA mutations, including substitutions, insertions, and deletions, while demonstrating their effects on genetic sequences.
Substitutions replace a base, while insertions and deletions change sequence length. In coding regions, an insertion or deletion that is not a multiple of three can change how subsequent codons are grouped.
The simulator connects a sequence edit to transcription and translation. Its outputs illustrate sequence-level effects rather than predicting a patient’s condition or the biological consequences of every mutation.
